We believe that life is a continuous process of change and development and that each individual has a significant and powerful role to play in their own process. We believe that the way we have learned to act and react does not have to be permanent, and that it is possible to learn another, more helpful way.
We see symptoms and manifestations of disease and distress as important messages to be aware of and listened to, rather than something intrinsically negative to be suppressed or erased.
Our underlying philosophy is one of non-judgemental awareness and acceptance. We teach and encourage the practice of techniques aimed at increasing awareness, such as mindfulness techniques. We also aim to create a safe, accepting space for our participants to express themselves, encouraging them to accept themselves, their experiences and those around them.
We seek to embrace each individual’s experiences and work with them through their own unique process, using a flexible and responsive approach. We aim to structure the course or workshop sessions in order to strike a balance between the teaching and practice of powerful proven cognitive and awareness-based techniques, and allowing the group the space to share experiences and talk things through in a supportive group environment.
